Born and raised in Romania, Dr. Maria Tetelbaum graduated with honours the nursing school in 1988. She worked for 1 year as a practical registered nurse in the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit, Fundeni Hospital, Bucharest. After that she pursued a career in medicine, graduating with honours Carol Davila University of Medicine and Dentistry, Bucharest, in 1995. As she has always loved children, she graduated the residency in Pediatric Neurology in January 2001, at the same university, practicing for a short period of time as a consultant in Bucharest, prior to her immigration to Canada in the end of 2001.

In 2003 she joined the Motherisk team at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, while completing one year of clinical fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology. She was involved in research regarding the safety of atypical antipsychotics in pregnancy, publishing several peer-reviewed articles.

Being attracted by the broad spectrum of care that family medicine provides and being able to care for people of all ages, bringing children back to her practice, Dr. Tetelbaum pursued a career in family medicine. In 2007 Dr. Tetelbaum graduated the Family Medicine Residency Program at University of Western Ontario, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry.

She worked at St. Joseph’s Family Medical and Dental Centre as a team leader locum for 15 months. Dr. Tetelbaum built the 5th team at the teaching centre and she supervised students and residents. Then she rounded her experience in hospital inpatients working for more than a year as staff physician in Medicine Department at University Hospital. She started the model of hospitalist at University Hospital that is now successfuly implemented as Subacute Medicine Unit. In February 2010, Dr. Tetelbaum opened her private community family medicine practice at Synergy Centre.

Dr. Tetelbaum holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor in Family Medicine, University of Western Ontario. She has as well admitting privileges at University Hospital, LHSC.

As part of her continuous professional development, Dr. Tetelbaum completed many courses in Palliative Care, Psychotherapy, Women’s Health and Diabetes Management. She fined tuned her surgical skills in the area of aesthetics, by taking hands on courses in vein sclerotherapy and medical botox and fillers.

She is a proud mother of two, trying to balance a busy professional life with a peaceful and fulfilling family life.

Dr. Joel Hommel, BHK, MD, CCFP

Born and raised in Windsor, ONDr. Joel Hommel enjoyed high school football andrecreational basketball. Married in Windsor in 2014.

 

Dr Joel Hommel attended the University of Windsor for undergraduate degree in 2005, graduated with Bachelor of Human Kinetics with Great Distinction in 2009. He received the Board of Governor’s Medal for highest GPA in the faculty in 2007.  Dr Joel Hommel received the Dean’s Entrance Scholarship, Coyle Scholarship, and McIntyre Scholarship.

Dr Joel Hommel was accepted after undergraduate degree into Medical School at Western University at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr Joel Hommel involved in medical curriculum development, mentoring younger students and high school students.  During this time Dr Joel Hommel received the George Callahan Award for medical and volunteer excellence, Medicine Alumni award. Dr Joel Hommel publications in the area of digestive system health and screening.  Graduated in May 2013.

Dr Joel Hommel accepted into Family Medicine Residency at Western University based out of Byron Family Medical Centre.  He was chosen to be Chief Resident in 2014-2015 taking on an active teaching role.  Dr Joel Hommel received the Susan Vitali-Lovell Award in Family Medicine. Dr Joel Hommel published a research project on developing patient portals and alternate methods patient-physician communication. Graduated in June 2015.

Dr Joel Hommel joined Synergy Centre 2015. Areas of interest- preventative medicine, chronic disease care, counselling, procedures, joint and trigger point injections, prenatal care, geriatrics, pediatrics.

Terryanne Daniel graduated from Fanshawe College as a Medical Unit Coordinator in 1993. Her pursuit of knowledge compelled her to return to school for Dental Assisting. She graduated it with honours in 1995. In 1996, Terryanne successfully obtained her Level II, dental assisting at Western under the supervision of Dr. Mara .

In the first 5 years of her dental career, Terryanne worked at a dental office in Wortley Village while continuing her studies in Business and Marketing. From 2000 to 2007, Terryanne worked at Cosmo Dental in London as Director of Care. Her career in dentistry also includes working with Dr. Hebel a well respected Prosthodotist and Trainer in London.

Terryanne was an advocate for ‘Kids Help Line’ and participated in many fund raising events. She was also involved with the local newspapers and had articles published to improve dental knowledge in the community. Terryanne continues to volunteer at many daycares/public schools/camps in London to bring dental education and provide needed supplies.

In 2006-2007, Terryanne returned to her studies in Ottawa. Under the guidance of J.J. Brun and Dr. Robert Rohm, she achieved Certification as a Consultant in Human Behaviour. In 2008, Terryanne became a Certified Specialist in Human Behaviour. She was an active member a of First Class Toastmasters here in London and Past Area Grosvenor.

Terryanne currently holds Workshops and Team Development meetings with local businesses and business owners. Coaching, personal or within a designed group is another area she can assist you in reaching your goals.

Since May 2007, Terryanne has worked closely with Dr Octavian Tetelbaum and Dr Maria Tetelbaum in designing, building and directing the site we now call Synergy Centre.
