Do I need a referral from my Doctor for physiotherapy treatment?

Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals which means you are not required to have a referral. In some circumstances, however, your insurance company may ask for a Doctor’s referral to be reimbursed for the treatment cost.

Is direct billing available to my insurance company?

Our clinic is able to directly bill many insurance companies which include Great West Life, Sunlife, and Greenshield. For questions, please contact our clinic for additional information if your insurance company is not listed.

Is physiotherapy covered under OHIP?

Our clinic is a private outpatient clinic which OHIP unfortunately will not cover.

Will you take Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) claims?

Our clinic can see any Motor Vehicle Accident injuries that fall within the realm of physiotherapy treatment. Please inform us if you are attending our clinic for an MVA as further documentation is required to complete your insurance claim.

Will you take WSIB claims?

Our clinic is registered with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. We are happy to treat any work-related injury which can be treated with physiotherapy. A doctor’s referral is not necessary for WSIB-related claims.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Comfortable clothing is recommended to ensure movement is not restricted and allows your physiotherapist to inspect the injured area. Please also bring any extended health-insurance information, MVA claim information, or Workplace Safety and Insurance Board information, if applicable.

How much will physiotherapy cost?

For treatment costs, please contact the clinic directly as we have various services and costs are subject to change.

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave Therapy is a treatment that utilizes sound waves travelling faster than the speed of sound which interact with your body tissue. It is an affordable, non-surgical, and non-invasive option that accelerates the healing process.

How successful is Shockwave Therapy?

Depending on the extent of the injury, the rate of success is between 75%-95%. Some patients notice an improvement after just one treatment, but it is important to note that it is a cumulative treatment and relief is usually experienced after three or four sessions.

Is Shockwave Therapy painful?

Some patients experience some discomfort during treatment which is dependent on how much pain is currently present. Treatments are short, lasting five to ten minutes, and the majority of patients report only minor discomfort. The intensity of the treatment can be adjusted from the start of each session.

Will I experience pain after treatment?

The majority of patients report immediate relief following their treatment. There is a chance you may feel mildly sore in the treated area two to four hours following your session.

How many treatments will I need?

Treatments are dependent on each individual injury, but the majority of conditions receive three to give treatments
